The Gateway Community College Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, supports the College through advocacy and by providing resources to help the College meet its mission of providing high quality instruction in an environment conducive to learning.
The Foundation funds scholarships for students, professional development grants for faculty and staff and equipment for the College. In addition, the Foundation provides critical advocacy through its work with local businesses in the community.
The Foundation Board is made up of volunteers from the greater New Haven business, education and non-profit community. The Foundation seeks to have members that represent the demographics of the College as well as those that reflect the businesses in our community.
"A gift to Gateway Community College is an investment in your community."
There are several ways that your donation helps Gateway students:
- Annual fund
Unrestricted giving provides funds to address new and emerging needs of the College.
- Scholarships
Providing scholarship support has been a critical part of the Foundations mission. Scholarship support relieves the financial burden and rewards academic success for our students. Named scholarships can be established for as little as $300.
- Professional Development/Technology
In order to prepare students for the 21st century workplace, faculty and staff must stay on the cutting edge of instruction and providing services to students. Professional development and technology grants equip staff with the tools needed to stay ahead of the curve.
- Helping Hands
The Helping Hands Fund provides modest grants to students faced with a financial crisis that if not addressed, could be college ending. Begun by Dr. John Soto of Space-Craft Manufacturing, the Helping Hands Fund gives a final chance to some of the Colleges most vulnerable students.
- Program support
Donations can be directed to a particular program or service area to further enhance the ability of faculty and staff to meet the needs of students.
Each year the Gateway Community College Foundation hosts events to give the community the opportunity to enjoy networking opportunities while supporting the College.
- Golf Classic
The annual golf classic is held each year in June. A portion of the tournament proceeds supports both the Michael Murphy scholarship for a student in the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counselor program and the Todd Dogolo Scholarship for a student in the Mathematics and Science program.
- Hall of Fame Reception
The Foundation's most popular event is the Hall of Fame Reception. Members of the corporate, alumni and business community are inducted into the Hall of Fame in recognition of their support of the College.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for all events. If you would like to make a donation to Gateway Community College, please send your check, payable to GCC Foundation, to:
