Substance Abuse Training Certificate
Earn 270 substance abuse specific training hours in 2 semesters. The DARC program offers a certificate program that can be completed in one year. Students may choose from multiple course offerings that are held days, evenings or weekends, allowing students the flexibility to create a schedule that works best for them. The six drug and alcohol specific classes are DAR 101 (Public Health Issues: Abuse and Addiction), DAR 111 (Addiction Counseling I), DAR 158 (Biology of Addiction), DAR 112 (Group Counseling Skills and Theory), DAR 213 (Addiction Counseling II) and a DARC elective. The DARC electives are - DAR 114 (Introduction to Family Systems), DAR 117 (Substance Abuse Prevention, DAR 119 (Addiction Counseling in a Correctional Setting), DAR 220 (Co-Occurring Disorders Counseling) and DAR 212 (Multicultural Addiction Counseling). ENG 101 (Composition) is also required. Our schedule is designed for working adults with multiple life responsibilities. It is possible to take four DARC classes in two days. Students are able to plan their schedules well in advance as the DARC schedule is very predictable and consistent.
