The CCB requires 360 hours of training with a minimum of 240 specific to substance abuse. Of the 240, specific training is required as follows;
90 counseling theory/techniques
18 hours in pharmacology
30 hours assessment and treatment planning
12 hours cross-cultural, special populations, minority groups
6 hours HIV/AIDS
12 hours in ethics
