Career Counseling
Prospective or current students who have not decided on a college program or career direction can see the career counselor. Career counseling helps to clarify career possibilities and move toward a decision. Students enrolled in the General Studies (Exploratory) program are notified of workshops and other activities intended to help them make decisions about their career plans.
Interest Testing
As part of career counseling, a student may take, free of charge, one or more written interest inventories or other tests. The results usually help to identify specific areas of interest for the student to explore.
Occupational Information
Career Services maintains extensive information on career choices. Computers access information on career choices, colleges across the country, sources of financial aid, job listings, and the Choices Computer program.
Employment Services
To assist current and former students in finding employment, Career Services encourages them to register on College Central Network. Additionally, full-time, part-time and seasonal job openings are posted in the office. Students seeking employment are encouraged to talk with staff in the center as they check the listings. For more information, contact Robert Miles at 285-2144.
Job Search Skills
Personal assistance and group workshops related to job-search skills, including resume writing, interviewing and job-seeking strategies are offered. For a personal appointment, call the department of Career Services.
Job openings mailed or faxed are posted in notebooks that are available in the Career Center on both campuses.
NOTE: Job openings posted with the Career Services office are one source of job listings and do not represent the job market for any career field. In the future this site will contain links to employer web-sites and sources of labor market information.
