The Academic Advising Center welcomes new and transfer students to the college. Our staff will assist you in making informed course decisions as you begin or continue your college career at Gateway. In collaboration with faculty and staff, we can also help you to develop an educational plan that meets your personal goals. So, whether you are a new student or a transfer student, the Academic Advising staff is here to help you get started at Gateway Community College.
Services Offered
- Small group Advisement Sessions: The Academic Advising Office offers small group advisement sessions to new students to assist them as they begin their academic studies.
- Individualized Sessions: Individual meetings with an advisor follow the general presentation to assist students in selecting the appropriate courses. It is our goal to teach students how to navigate their new academic environment. Students are introduced and taught how to use the online system at www.online.commnet.edu for course availability and to retrieve useful information.
- Transfer Students: Transfer students should work with a counselor in the Gateway Counseling Department to ensure completion of their degree requirements or to meet their particular academic goal.
