Allied Health Division

The Allied Health field includes some of the most rapidly advancing careers in modern medicine. Recent changes in technology, the increasing use of sophisticated equipment, and the expansion of the field throughout the nation have created a sharp demand for individuals certified in these many allied health fields. Gateway Community College is helping to meet this demand by offering Associate Degree (AS) and Certificate (C) Programs in:

    • Diagnostic Medical Sonography (AS)
    • Nuclear Medicine Technology (AS and C)
    • Radiation Therapy (AS)
    • Radiography (AS)
  • Health Career Pathways (C)
  • Nutrition and Fitness
    • Fitness Specialist Studies (C)
    • Dietetic Technology (AS)
  • Pre-Dental Hygiene (AS)

Information sessions

Purpose

  • Collaborates with regional clinical educational centers  to provide comprehensive learning opportunities utilizing innovative technologies in the fields of diagnostic medical sonography, dietetics, fitness, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy and radiography.
  • Integrates discipline specific didactic and laboratory instruction with directed clinical practice to prepare graduates for entry level positions consistent with a currently recognized and accepted curriculum for the profession.The Allied Health Department of Gateway Community College is a leading provider of post secondary education and community service. The program promotes comprehensive, quality education committed to high standards in all measurable categories:

Goals

  • Promote the allied health professions
  • Provide individualized courses of study to enhance students' academic skills in preparation for application to the program
  • Assure program graduates' competence in written and oral communication, scientific and quantitative reasoning, problem solving, and tools for lifelong learning
  • Assist articulation with four-year institutions, with the Associate Degree as the foundation for a Bachelor's degree
  • Promote continued professional development and lifelong learning through community education programs
  • Ensure effectiveness by meeting or exceeding all accreditation policy requirements
